Tom has worked in the third sector for over 7 years and has experience of leading businesses, social enterprises and charities. He has broad experience working in senior leadership roles within operations and business development areas.
Most recently as Business Development Manager for a small social enterprise Tom was instrumental in developing the business strategy which significantly increased business profitability over 2 years. Tom also oversaw the implementation of quality standards.
Prior to this Tom worked for the British Red Cross for 4 years leading a team of 45 staff across the Yorkshire Region supporting people in crisis (such as hospital discharges, intermediate care, medical equipment loans, first aid and even supporting victims of flooding and other natural disasters). Tom worked to increase access to services enabling 50% more people in crisis able to access support when they most needed it as well as ensuring maximum impact was achieved.
Tom has experience of creating and implementing strategy, generating sustainable sources of income, product development, financial management and impact measurement.
Tom has an interest in how future technology, new economic models and new ways of working could transform society for the better as well as how corporate social responsibility could be better harnessed by the third sector.
In his spare time Tom enjoys yoga, gardening, meditation, running, cycling and reading history books. He has a degree in Politics from the University of Liverpool.
