We work with local service providers and commissioners to deliver specific programmes for carers such Family Carers Matter©, facilitate focus groups and workshops to gain the views of carers and develop local dementia strategies with a strong emphasis on engagement.
There is a valid economic case for improving the level of support given to carers of people with dementia from employers.
The 670,000 unpaid carers of people with dementia in the UK collectively saves the UK economy an estimated £11.6 billion per year. This equates to 44% of the total cost of dementia care. With this in mind, we believe that the Government, the health and social care system and UK businesses have a responsibility to support carers of people with dementia, an act that will have a profound impact on the wellbeing and welfare of the UK.
