tide – together in dementia every day is the UK wide involvement network for carers and former carers of people living with dementia, hosted by the Life Story Network CIC. We do not provide direct support to carers of people living with dementia in their caring role, as many other organisations do this. Rather, we bring together current and former carers of people with dementia and through our bespoke development programme we give them the tools and confidence to get involved to influence policy, practice and research. At tide we also recognise that not all former carers may want to stay actively involved in campaigning and influencing and through our work with them, we will facilitate former carers in moving on with their lives, finding new roles, once their caring role has come to an end. The overall aim of tide carers’ network is to improve their experiences as unpaid carers as well as the services available to those they care for. In recognition of these needs, the Life Changes Trust is providing a four year grant for tide carers network to become established in Scotland.
