Eleanor Connelly
Learning & Development Coordinator
I develop and deliver our inspiring and exciting Carer Development Programme. I engage with our carer members and support them to participate in the Carer Development Programme, which is currently delivered online.
I work with carers and former carers to co-design and develop new content for the online sessions, which will meet the emerging needs of tide members.I ensure that carers feel welcomed, valued and understand their role and commitment within the network.
Our unpaid carers do the hardest job in the world. I help support them on their journey and help ensure they have the skills and knowledge to keep going, even in the toughest of times. I work hard to ensure that carers and former carers voices are heard, they have opportunities to influence real change and are confident and empowered to do so.
I also deliver tide training to dementia professionals. Our tailored training for the health & social care sector aims to improve the quality of life for people living with dementia; by training staff who support those living in a care home, the community or hospital
About Eleanor
My Dad had dementia.
He was diagnosed with vascular dementia 8 years ago after a number of TIA’s, he also had heart failure and prostate cancer. My brother was his primary carer; I was his respite carer and emotional support for my brother.
My Dad passed away last year.
I have recently started on the dementia journey again and I am currently struggling to get a diagnosis for my Mum.
I am now honoured to work for tide; I get the opportunity to pass on my knowledge and experience as a former carer and I truly understand our carer members individual journeys and situations.
I have also found it a really cathartic experience working at tide; I get to talk about my Dad nearly every day and it is helping me with my grief.
I have over 20 years of experience as an Activity Coordinator for children, young people and older adults. I have worked for charities, public and third sector organisations in the UK, Singapore and Qatar; organising and delivering events & activities, training volunteers and professionals in adapting activities and British Sign Language, I’ve worked with deaf people and deaf organisations for the last 7 years.
