TIDE Advisory Group Member
I have worked within the care community, in various roles, for over four decades, during which I have observed and experienced many changes in the delivery of care across different sectors. The one constant that drives me and I remain passionate about is providing person-centred and reflective care.
In recent years I have worked across my local community as a Pioneer, supporting community groups to work together in the spirit of community cooperation and enterprise with the Co-op.
In addition, I have held the position of Expert by Experience since 2017 and contributed to numerous CQC Inspections of care providers across the country gathering care recipient feedback, observing care and above all else raising standards and challenging poor practice.
Whilst having a professional background in social work, senior management and partnership account management, I have also been a full-time carer for my Mum.
As a full time Carer I supported several charity boards, two of which advocate for change for those living with dementia and their carers.
TIDE is one of those charities. Thanks to its support, I have been enabled to find my voice as a carer, raise awareness of many challenges faced by other carers and their communities. I now support TIDE in its vision and purpose and take pride in its many achievements both personally and as a member of its TIDE Advisory Group (TAG).
