About Danni…

I found myself in the world of dementia when my mum, Barbara, was diagnosed with Vascular Dementia.

Mum lived with dementia in a Care Home for 6 years and during that time I became familiar with the many aspects of dementia and the challenges it brings. 

I liaised with the staff and agencies to advocate for mum and ensure that she lived her best possible life. I came to understand that the way to do this was to enter and embrace mum's world and help those involved with mum's care to enter it as well. I have contributed with my lived experience to Life Stories and Distressing Behaviour training delivered by tide, bringing the experience of my mum’s dementia to life to stress the human dimension of the condition.

I also became a Dementia Champion with the Alzheimer’s Society creating Dementia Friends so more people could gain a better insight into dementia and its impact on those living with it.

I am also on the Readers’ Panel for the Alzheimer’s Society and Age UK reviewing their publications aimed at people living with Dementia and their carers.
