Are you a carer of someone with dementia and live in Manchester?

The Dementia Carers Expert Reference Group (DCERG) is the first every commissioned carers group in the UK. It consists of a group of current and former carers of people with dementia who are passionate about improving the lives of carers of people living with dementia and those they care for across all Greater Manchester. The DCERG is part of  Dementia United. The work we do with Dementia United supports our belief that carers need to have a voice on how dementia services are run. Carers are experts by experience. Through joining the DCERG group will ensure your experience as a carer of someone with dementia is captured and listened to. We are currently looking for carers who live in; Trafford, Bolton, Bury, Oldham, Salford,  and Wigan. Why join? Watch DCERG members Liz and Mike explain why it is important for people with dementia and their carers to have a voice

As said by Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester at Dementia United meeting, "As organisations we pay thousands of pounds to external management consultants to help us to improve what we do, but the real experts are carers of people with dementia; if we listen to them they will tell us what needs to be improved!"
