Research Study – Dementia Home Care: Investigating the issues for improving home and domiciliary care to those with dementia

  Please join the University of Manchester (Personal Social Services Research Unit), working closely together with tide and other organisations, who are conducting a research study, investigating the issues for unpaid and family carers of those living with dementia around home or domiciliary care. Currently, home care specifically for people with dementia, is experiencing many challenges, in terms of finance, the supply of care workers and appropriate responses to the particular needs of people living with dementia and their supporters. The Dementia Home Care Project wishes to investigate the issues from the point of view of supporters and unpaid carers of those living with dementia.  The work is part of a larger study funded by the National Institute for Health Research, School for Social Care Research.  The work will produce information that will be communicated to the Department of Health and Social Care to inform future service development.

If you are now, or were at any time in the past, supporting someone living with dementia at home who received home (domiciliary) care, or if you didn’t receive care but wanted to and wish to highlight any issues of concern, you are invited to complete a survey.  The survey simply asks you to respond to broad questions concerning issues around home care for people living with dementia and their families.  A Public, Patient and Carer Involvement (PPCI) Group, including members of tide and other carer organisations have been involved in framing these issues.
